Instructional Development Workshops

Blackboard
Blackboard (abbreviated Bb) is a web-based software package that makes it easy for instructors to use online tools and resources for teaching. Within the Bb system, there are additional software applications (known as Building Blocks) that provide a variety of specific features for teaching (e.g., blogs and podcasts) and that enhance management functions (e.g., tools for uploading test grades from a spreadsheet or giving TAs access to the site).

Blackboard 8.0 Grade Center:

This 1-hour workshop focuses on recent changes to the Blackboard 8.0 Grade Center (formerly known as the Grade book). In this hands-on workshop, learn about the changes in creating grade columns, entering grades, and managing weighted grades. Advanced features, like sorting the Grade Center by multiple course sections, are also covered.

Softchalk lessons may include text, pictures, media, and interactive elements such as practice exercises and assessments. Exported lessons are web pages for posting on the Internet or for use in Blackboard. LessonBuilder is free to download for KU users here.
